The cherry blossom trees in Washington, DC were late blooming this year, but when they did it was finally warm, breezy, beautiful spring-like weather. So they didn’t last too long, but they were lovely for 4-5 days. I noticed especially this year that many of the old trees, with the beautiful gnarled trunks, are dying and leaving more and more gaps in the rows of old trees. And while new trees are planted every year they just don’t have the same character.
