Boats and Fireworks

Jacksonville has a wonderful tradition of a boat parade and fireworks every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Some years it’s warmer than others, this year it was quite windy which made sitting by the river a little cool. It also blew the smoke toward us which obscured a lot of the fireworks. But even so, Jacksonville does have some of the best fireworks of anywhere I’ve been (only rivaled by the opening of the derby in Louisville, KY). They are shot off two bridges on either side of where we were sitting and several barges and they reflect in the tall buildings. It’s beautiful. As for the boats this year, the sailboat with the flag sails was my favorite!

Leon, Susan and Lenox

It’s time for the latest pictures of my always cute nephew. 🙂 Taken today despite “cool” weather. Here’s Lenox and his parents:

Lenox will be having a John Deere 1st birthday party next month, so we had to get a few shots for his invitations. He LOVES anything with a steering wheel!
Watching the boats go by…

After pictures, he was allowed to “drive” for a few minutes. He was very excited!

Dumbarton Oaks

Today I visited one of my favorite hidden gems in DC, Dumbarton Oaks. You’ll have to visit yourself to discover the gorgeous gardens. These images show off a little late fall color and some unique door handles.

National Cathedral Engagement Pictures – Emily and Tomas

Also from Sunday, here are Emily and Tomas’s beautiful images. I have the most wonderful clients and I enjoy getting to know each of them as I share in the anticipation and excitement for the wedding day. Emily and Tomas were great sports as I searched for the best light and locations for their portraits; I think we got some great shots. I’m looking forward to their wedding in June!
