4th of July

I’m a little behind on my personal pictures, so happy 4th of July, just a few weeks late! 🙂
I was able to enjoy the fireworks from the White House lawn thanks to my friend Tracy. It was so nice not to battle the crowds on the mall, and the grass was a lot thicker and softer! And, the weather was actually pleasant for a change! It was a beautiful evening all around.

Part of the pre-fireworks entertainment.
The Oval Office with the Rose Garden to the right.
The President and his guests come out on the balcony for the fireworks. Note the sharp-shooters on the roof. They also stand along the edges of the lawn in the bushes and can be a bit startling if you walk close before realizing they are there!

Netherlands Carillon

Today was so beautiful, low 80s with little humidity, and the perfect day to enjoy a beautiful view of DC. This is the Carillon tower, given in 1960 as a gift from the Netherlands in appreciation of Allied efforts which liberated the country in World War II. It’s near Iwo Jima and is the best view of the city you’ll find. They have a summer concert series where the bells are played and the tower is open for climbing.

Congratulations Hannah and Chris!

Hannah and Chris planned a wonderful outdoor wedding day at Greenwell State Park in Maryland yesterday and they didn’t let a little rain ruin their day. Hannah looked so sophisticated and beautiful. As you can tell I had a hard time picking just a few pictures to show. I’ve really enjoyed working with both of them and wish them well as they move to California to begin their life together!
