I had not been to Winterthur in the spring before and wow have I been missing out! I love the casual feel of the gardens with the hostas and ferns under the large trees, but the azaleas are the star of the show. That and the quarry garden – stunning! I was attempting to travel light and just enjoy the scenery without obsession about the perfect picture and left my camera in the car – until I came upon the quarry and I knew I had to capture the beauty of that spot. The quarry is about as far from the parking lot as you can get, but it was back for the camera and I’m so glad I did. I can’t wait to have a huge canvas of that magical place on my wall!
I had so much fun working with the lovely Heather in creating these headshots and portraits. I always say, everyone needs a great picture of themselves and I know these casual headshots represent Heather’s beauty inside and out.
Heather and Edgar were married in a much anticipated, long awaited celebration surrounded by enthusiastic family and friends. I have never heard such a roar at a wedding as when the newly married couple were announced into their reception at the Sheraton Premier in Tyson’s Corner, VA. They are loved and adored by so many people! Heather’s beautiful sisters were her bridesmaids, which made for so many sweet and sentimental moments as their their love for Heather and Edgar was evident. To see more of this lovely wedding day watch the slideshow here. Congratulations Heather and Edgar, it was a joy to serve as your wedding photographer!
Heather tied her grandmother’s rosary beads onto her bouquet as a beautiful tribute to a grandmother who was with her in spirit on her wedding day.

This year we waited and waited and waited for the cherry blossoms. Then when they finally bloomed the second week of April it was 90 degrees! This made for only a couple of days of blossoms (they started opening on Monday and were gone by Thursday night) but I made the most of it! The blossoms were also really pink again this year, it must be the warm weather that gives them a little more color than usual.
So, on a dreary, cool day in Washington, DC, enjoy remembering warmer weather and the first signs of spring!
Jen and John are expecting a baby girl in about a month (her name is top secret so I couldn’t include the fun pictures showcasing her name). To document the anticipated arrival of this sweet baby girl, gorgeous spring flowers were an appropriate maternity portrait backdrop. Jen is a gorgeous mommy-to-be and I know this baby girl is lavishly loved already by her parents. I can’t wait to meet her!
