Spring has sprung for Michele and Rob’s engagement shoot! The weather has been a bit crazy and the cherry blossoms came and went in a couple of days, but in the midst of all that was a gorgeous day for Capitol Hill engagement photos. We had so much fun, as you can tell! Aren’t Michele and Rob so cute together?
Ashley and Will were married in a lovely outdoor ceremony at the scenic Belmont Country Club in Ashburn, VA. The day was breezy and almost warm, hinting of spring on a late March afternoon. Belmont has lots of indoor space with great light for photos and I always enjoy photographing weddings at the mansion. Ashley was a simply stunning bride and it was a joy to work with her and all her sweet bridesmaids. Being trusted to capture wedding day memories is always an honor. Family and so many friends were on hand to celebrate what was most important about the day – Ashley and Will are married! Congratulations you two!
This may be one of the most personalized details I’ve seen – custom champaign glasses for all the bridesmaids. Each glass was hand-painted with the style of dress that bridesmaid wore. Aren’t they adorable!?
Ashley and Will chose to have a reveal and see each other before the ceremony. This enabled us to take all the portraits and family formal pictures before the ceremony so the couple could join the cocktail hour immediately after the wedding ceremony.

Megan is graduating from Georgetown University in Washington, DC and needed a combo of graduation photo and professional headshot to use as she ventures into the next stage of her life. She’s so photogenic and was a pleasure to work with on her mini portrait session in Old Town Alexandria, VA. Congratulations on your graduation, Megan!
The Washingtonian recently published a fun feature on “Washington Weddings With Dogs” and two of my 2012 couples who included their dogs on their big day were featured! Michele and Sadie, shown below, and Rich and his dogs.
Sadie was found abandoned at about 10 weeks old and nursed back to health by a shelter. Dan adopted her from that shelter in Georgia about 2.5 years ago. Dan didn’t know Sadie would be attending the wedding until she walked down the isle as co-ringbearer. What a great surprise!
It’s always an honor and delight to be trusted to photograph a baby. They are so sweet and cuddly and cute – and new! But it’s especially fun to photograph baby siblings of previous little newborn models. Jack has a new little brother named James. They certainly do look like brothers, but it’s interesting how at 8 days old and a few hours of working with him, I can already tell many ways they are different. Babies really are born with personalities just waiting to fully emerge as they grow. I know these boys are going to grow up to be great buddies!
