I adore my nephews and we have a great time together when I visit, playing tennis, riding bikes, reading books, doing puzzles, cooking, playing the piano, canoeing and I’m sure I left a few things out! In an effort to spend quality time with them, my camera rarely comes out unless it’s for an “official” photoshoot. Recently I thought it was time to go back to the beach for pictures, so I bought them new shirts, got them ready, took Grammy along for help (they behave better for her than for their mom) and we headed off. It was work to get there, and we were continually brushing sand off of them and out of their hair, but I’m so glad we did it! Parents, it’s worth the effort of a professional photo shoot for great pictures of your kids!
I may be a tad biased, but aren’t these two of the handsomest boys you’ve ever seen??

I love all things flowers and foliage, but nothing tops the fluffy pink beauty of the cherry blossoms. This year the warm weather made for a very early, very short blooming season – with much pinker than usual flowers. These pictures were taken on two walks around the tidal basin, mostly on a foggy morning. I can never get enough of the blossoms myself, and if you feel the same you’ll enjoy this long post with lots of pictures!
It’s my favorite time of year again! Though the cherry blossoms bloomed really early this year, I’m so glad we were able to fit Laura and Trevor’s engagement portraits in almost two weeks earlier than planned, in order to capture the fleeting beauty of the cherry trees. As a doctor and a lawyer to be, not to mention training for the Cherry Blossom 10 miler, this is one busy couple!
The threat of rain didn’t materialize and the weather couldn’t have cooperated for a sweeter couple. Laura and Trevor were delightful to photograph and the fun they have together really shows! We included a few Washington DC landmarks in their engagement pictures, including a stop at the infamous “blue doors”. And of course lots of cherry blossoms!
