Wilmington Country Club New Year’s Eve Wedding Photographer – Congratulations Kim and Chris!

What better way to ring in the New Year than at a beautiful party with happy, in-love people?  Kim and Chris were married in a gorgeous candle-lit ceremony in the historic First Presbyterian Church of Salem, NJ.  Kim is the 5th generation to attend the church, so lots of family history in that lovely church.  While the idea of turning off ALL the lights sounded like a bit of an obstacle to ceremony pictures, the candle-lit church was so romantic that it was worth it.  And the pictures capture that atmosphere perfectly. The reception was held at the Wilmington Country Club and a fun sparkler exit, soon after midnight, capped off the wedding and New Year celebration.  Kim and Chris are a great match, and it was such a joy to photograph their wedding day!  Congratulations you two!

The pearl necklace was a gift to Kim’s grandmother for her engagement and has been passed down ever since.
There just aren’t interesting place like this in DC for shooting portraits.  Love the colors and textures of this old train.
Now that’s a kiss! 🙂
Happy New Year! I loved working with this family again! (Having previously been privileged to shoot Kim’s brother John’s wedding  – click John and Lauren for their wedding pictures.)

Lenox and Lincoln – 5 and 3

Where did these large children come from??  Just turning 3 and 5, my nephews suddenly seem like big kids.  Every age is fun, and there are so many more things we can do without naptimes, but it’s hard to believe these lanky boys were chubby toddlers not long ago.

Love my sweet Lenox!

And love my silly Lincoln who thinks everything is funny!

Trying to get in a shot makes for even more silliness.  These boys can laugh!
Good buddies! They are SO different, but most of the time get along quite well.  And they are both going to be big brothers next summer!  Lenox, who loves babies, is especially thrilled.  And look, I found “blue doors” in Jacksonville.

A Longwood Christmas – Longwood Gardens

After shooting a gorgeous New Years Eve wedding at the Wilmington Country Club, what better place to start the new year than a visit to the lush Longwood Gardens?!  Even when it’s cold outside the extensive green houses are a warm space to enjoy.  Here is the large East Conservatory.

The recently renovated Ballroom which houses the magnificent pipe organ and hosts fun holiday sing alongs and concerts.  The skylight ceiling and chandeliers are so beautiful.

The Music Room features gingerbread replicas of the Conservatory and the Peirce-du Pont House

The Orchid House has stunning specimens.

Love the creative (and huge!) wreaths!  This one is mostly herbs.
I love ferns!

Many specimens of poinsettias.

And Amaryllis.

The Exhibition Hall becomes a Christmas fountain.
And the Orangery, my favorite room.

Happy New Year!

Grand Canal – Venice, Italy

My big international trip of 2011 was to Italy in October.  It’s a place I’ve wanted to see for a long time and I can’t wait to see more someday!  I spent a week with a group of fun wedding and portrait photographers in the lake region north of Milan.  The first panoramic is of Lake Como.  The weather was gorgeous and the towns so cute!  At the end of the trip I spent a couple of days in the maze of Venice.  I’ve hardly had time to look through all my pictures, so I’m sure I’ll share more next year.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
