Enjoyed meeting and photographing this family referred to me by another photography client. Most of my new clients come that way, I love and appreciate referrals! And I loved their outfits. Yellow, grey and navy is a great color combination for family pictures. Don’t they look great? And that yellow coat is too cute on this spunky little lady! I look forward to updating pictures of this family next year!
What an amazing wedding day! A Catholic ceremony in Arlington, VA, then wedding party pictures in Washington, DC, then a gorgeous terrace cocktail hour at sunset and reception in the formal ballroom at the Army Navy Country Club, Arlington, VA. This couple has a huge group of family and friends – and I think they were all in the wedding party! Which made for fun pictures! But Katie was a relaxed bride and let all the bridesmaids choose any black dress, which all came together for variety in the sameness. Katie’s lace bodice had cap sleeves and a plunging back, her favorite part. A special part of the portrait time between the ceremony and reception was visiting the restaurant where they had their first date for a quick pictures, and they met at the church where they were married – so special! Congratulations Katie and Larkin!

It’s amazing how much kids grow year to year. Teeth fall out and smiles change. Claire is one beautiful girl and I’ve always loved her more serious, intense gazes. We had a beautiful fall day in Alexandria, VA to update their family photos and document how much Claire has grown in pictures. I look forward to seeing you all next time!
It was time to update the family photos, but a sudden move to Dallas, TX meant a change of plans and a search for a new photographer they thought. It just so happened I had a trip to Texas planned a few weeks later and we were able to meet up at the gorgeous Dallas Arboretum. I couldn’t believe how much these handsome boys had grown! It was fun to catch up in a new place and update the family pictures. And I so appreciate clients who love my work across the miles!
From the Hotel Monaco to the Army Navy Country Club, choosing beautiful locations as a backdrop to your wedding day is a great help to your photographer. Then choosing a wedding gown that makes you shine as bright as the dress sparkles, add a love between a couple that can be felt, and you have the combination for a magical wedding day and the best wedding pictures.
Emily was stunning in her gorgeous sparkly flowy spaghetti strap ball gown that even spelled the word love, hidden in the sparkles. The 1957 Bentley that chauffeured the groom and his best man, and the bride and her maid of honor, from the Hotel Monaco to the Army Navy Country club was such a classy touch and made for fun memories. And as a prop for wedding pictures, it’s hard to beat. The flowers in the bouquets pulled together all the hues of lavender, purple, wine and lilac that Emily chose for the bridesmaid’s gowns. And the cake. You’ve got to scroll down and see the Capitol dome wedding cake! A choreographed first dance (perfect with Emily’s ballgown!) and a fun and fast moving hora, all led by a great live band, made for quite the joyous wedding celebration of the newly married couple. Completing the wedding day was a sparkler send off. Congratulations Emily and Eric!
